Although it sounds like an abbreviation for some kind advanced technology piece, INFJ is actually a short term for one of the 16 Myers-Briggs personality types and the rarest of them all. These people are unique in the way they handle their emotions and the way they use logic – they are intuitive, introspective, insightful, and compassionate. INFJs are far more emotional than any other personality type, so if you’re one, you can truly call yourself unique.
What’s the Myers-Briggs Indicator Test?
The Myers-Briggs Indicator test was invented by Katharine Briggs and her daughter Isabel Myers with the goal of determining the different types of personality in people. It is based on Jung’s psychological types and uses 4 opposite categories to determine the results – introversion vs. extroversion, sensing vs. intuition, thinking vs. feeling, and judging vs. perceiving. By choosing one of the choices offered, the test can easily determine what category of personality you fall into.
Obviously, INFJs would circle introversion, intuition, feeling, and judging as their choices. If we were to describe these people using simple terms, we would say they’re empathetic, caring, organized, and diligent, although this is a very vague description.
If you think you may fall under this category, here are some signs that will definitely confirm it:
We’re all intuitive up to a point – it enables us to determine what kind of people we meet. However, INFJs go a step further with their intuition. In their hands, intuition is almost like a superpower, enabling them to spot a liar and recognize anyone’s true motives before they form a relationship with them. This is why it’s very hard to deceive and manipulate these people, not to mention lie to them – they will see through you like through glass.
You’re an Introvert
Although it’s not an automatic rule, INFJs are frequently introverts, although many people mistake them for extroverts. These people can appear quite outgoing and social, but inside, they’re definitely introverts. They may look happy on the outside when spending time with friends, but they don’t prefer going out with a crowd as it easily tires them. INFJs need time to recharge their batteries, and they can only do it when they’re alone.
You Judge Everyone by How They Make You Feel
INFJs never pay attention to tales of grandeur as they’re most likely not true. They only care about how others make them feel. Their gut never lies to them and they act toward people in the say way they’re being treated. Whenever they’re sure of someone’s malicious intent, they distance themselves from them.
You’re Charming and Warm
People enjoy being around INFJs – they are warm, charming, and very pleasant to be around. Even strangers can fall “victims” to an INFJs charm and will even share their deepest secrets and fears within minutes. If your charm is difficult to resist, you might fall into the INFJ category.
You’re Very Empathetic
It goes without saying that INFJs are very emotional – some may even call them empathetic and they wouldn’t be far from the truth. They’re protective of their close friends and offer a shoulder to cry on whenever someone needs support. They’re very unselfish and kind and will do whatever they can to help a friend in need.
You Have Unwavering Beliefs on the World
INFJs have strong opinions and beliefs of the world and know what they want to see in it. They feel the need to change everything they can, although there are some boundaries they will never cross. If you think you can change an INFJs stance on the world, don’t even try – their beliefs are firm and trying to change them could be seen as hostile.
